Former New Zealand cricketer-turned-commentator  Simon Doull is very vocal about his opinions. He is currently a part of the broadcast team of the Indian T20 League 2022. During an earlier match of Rajasthan, Doull made some comments on air that did not go down with some users on Twitter.

The 52-year-old questioned Riyan Parag's selection in the Rajasthan team, claiming that his social media presence would not be counted in the game. A fan pointed this out on Twitter and said there was no need to bring social media into the picture. Doull then defended his statement saying that his opinion might have been 'lost in translation'.

More recently, Riyan Parag scored his maiden half-century of the 2022 edition against Bangalore on Tuesday. He scored 56 runs in 31 balls to take Rajasthan to 144 runs in the first innings.

A Twitter user then used this opportunity to reignite the debate. "Hope you are watching the game @Sdoull RIYAN PARAG 56 OF 31!" he wrote. Responding to this, Doull praised the young batter and said, "Yes he played really well today. Summed up the situation and was fantastic at the death..."

Coming back to the match in question, Bangalore needed 145 runs to win the game. However, they faced a batting collapse as the men in pink registered a 29-run win. Riyan Parag was awarded the man of the match for his heroics with the bat.
