IPL 2021 is expected to resume on September 18 or 19. The uncertainty around the venue and the schedule are finally over. The league will resume in UAE. The remaining 31 matches of the League along with the 4 playoff games, will be played over a 3-week window.

There has been a lot of speculation and discussion around the scheduling and location of IPL. Now, the cash-rich League would be played in UAE. The league would resume after just 4 days of the completion of India’s five-test series against England. BCCI officials revealed that the weekend of 18-19th September would mark the resumption of the league. The IPL 2021 final is likely to be played on the weekend of 9-10th October. The BCCI decided after speaking to all the stakeholders.

The existing schedule of IPL 2021 has not yet been revised. But it is reported that the 31 games would get divided into 10 double headers and seven evening games. All the knockout matches would probably start from 7:30 PM IST. The itinerary is not yet finalized.

The 14th edition of IPL had to be postponed. The league had to be stopped on the 4th of May. It was due to the surge in COVID-19 cases inside the secure bio-bubbles of various teams. Various nations like England, Sri Lanka, and UAE were mulled before UAE was selected as the venue.

West Indies players will join the remaining IPL matches later

The final day of the fifth test between India and England would be on 14th September in Manchester. The Indian team and the English team would then fly to the UAE on a charter flight.

On the other hand, West Indies players would participate in the Caribbean Premier League(CPL). That league would start on 28th August. The final match of the league would be on 19th September. The players would then depart for the UAE for IPL. The players arriving from UAE and UK would have to undergo a three-day quarantine before entering the league.

Delhi Capitals are at the top of the tournament with 6 wins in 8 games. The Chennai Super Kings and the Royal Challengers Bangalore are in the second and third positions respectively. Both the teams have 10 points each. Mumbai Indians are in the fourth position on the points table.
