An affair of the controversies and the PCB officials is not something new for cricket fans to know, it has happened in a couple of international tournaments. In the same line of events, the current media division head of the Pakistan cricket team, Umar Kalson and the General Manager (International Cricket) of the board, Adnan Ali have fallen under the radar of the Pakistan Cricket Board and could face disciplinary action.

It all happened after they visited a casino in Colombo during the ongoing Aasia Cup 2023; they both are fulfilling their respective duties with the Pakistan camp in the continental championship. The controversy ignited after they visited a gambling spot in Colombo.

It also raised the eyebrows of the Anti-Corruption Unit of cricket’s governing body; a visit to these kinds of places is strictly prohibited according to the code of conduct of the ACU. However, Kalson and Adnan came up with a clarification over the same said that they went to have dinner. But this justification didn’t go down well with the Pakistan cricketing fraternity.

This act from two of the responsible officials also ignited a lot of outrage in the Pakistan cricketing fraternity, including the journalists, writers and former cricketers.

One of the renowned cricket writers in Pakistan, Omair Alvi said, “Who goes to a casino to have food? Who goes to a gambling joint to have food? Who are they trying to fool.”

A PCB source also cleared the stance of authorities over this act from the two officials who could have shown some ‘maturity’ and ‘sense of responsibility’ while holding a professional position.

“They shouldn’t have gone to the place where gambling was taking place. They could face strict disciplinary action after returning to Pakistan,” said the PCB source.

Speaking of cricket, Pakistan are currently facing the arch-rivals India in the ongoing all-important super-4 clash of the Asia Cup 2023. They are looking at the backfoot as Former skipper Virat Kohli and star KL Rahul have smashed a century each for India.
