Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar is not happy that Babar Azam didn't win the Player of the Tournament award in the 20-20 World Cup. Notably, Australia opener David Warner won the award after an astounding show in the tournament. The southpaw was going through a lean patch before the marquee event but the big man stepped up to the occasion and set the stage on fire with his blistering knocks. Warner ended the tournament as the second highest run getter, with 289 runs in 7 games.

However, Akhtar and a few fans felt that Babar Azam was more deserving of the award. Babar Azam ended the tournament as the highest run-getter, with 303 runs in 6 games. Akhtar took to Twitter to express his disappointment.

"Was really looking forward to see @babarazam258 becoming Man of the Tournament. Unfair decision for sure," wrote Akhtar.

Speaking about Warner, he scored a vital fifty in the final and stitched a valuable partnership with Mitchell Marsh to take Australia home. This was Australia's first title win in the showpiece event. Earlier, New Zealand had set a target of 173 for Australia to win. Kane Williamson was the top scorer for New Zealand and scored 85 runs.
