On 6 November 2022, team India locked horns with Zimbabwe at MCG for their last game on the group stage. However, before this clash, India qualified for the semi-finals as South Africa lost against the Netherlands. Then, Pakistan also defeated Bangladesh as they qualified for the semi-finals of the 20-20 World Cup as well.

So, it was a dead rubber for the Men in Blue as they marched toward the semi-finals. Speaking of the match, Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first. But, during the toss, he confirmed that Dinesh Karthik was rested as Rishabh Pant got a chance in the playing XI. Fans were happy to see that change as they were looking for that change for a while.

In those matches, he failed to score big runs. Then, in the warm-up match against the Aussies, Pant did not play.

However, he was seen with ice strapping on his knee in the dugout. But, no injury scare was there as he came up to do wicketkeeping when Karthik left the field for an injury against South Africa. But, fans were hoping to see a good score from Pant Against Zimbabwe. Meanwhile, he failed again as he scored only three runs off five balls in the match. After seeing him wasting another opportunity, fans were not happy at all. They came out and shared their views on the social media platforms as Pant left them disappointed.
