Former Indian skipper and batting superstar, Virat Kohli has expressed his excitement just after the announcement of the schedule of the ODI World Cup 2023 in India. Last time, 12 years back in the year 2011 when World Cup was played in India, Kohli was also a part of the Indian team in the historic final against Sri Lanka at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

On the matches which are to be held in Mumbai, Kohli expressed what it feels to play at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai as India had also won the 2011 World Cup final at the same ground against Sri Lanka.

"I am looking forward to playing in Mumbai in this World Cup. It will be great to experience that atmosphere again which we got in 2011,” Kohli was quoted as saying by the governing body of cricket.

Subsequently, this statement from Kohli drew a lot of reactions and responses from cricket fans on the social media platform Twitter. some of the fans also recalled the performances of Team India in the knock-out stage of the major international cricket tournament.

Meanwhile, former blistering Indian opener Virender Sehwag has also come up with a statement for Virat Kohli; Sehwag compared Virat Kohli to the former legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar.

"Virat Kohli is very much similar to Sachin Tendulkar. He steps up at big stages more than any other youngsters,” said Sehwag on the sidelines of an event of cricket’s governing body.

"Everyone needs to win this World Cup for Virat Kohli. The kind of great player he is, a great human being also, he always helps other players,” he added later.

Speaking of India’s schedule in ODI World Cup 2023, they will start their campaign with the first match against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, the 8th of October 2023. India will also face arch-rivals Pakistan in the highly-anticipated World Cup encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, the 15th of October.
