On 6 November 2022, Pakistan took on Bangladesh in Adelaide in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup. However, before that, South Africa took on the Netherlands. However, that was a must-win game for the Proteas to get qualified for the semi-finals of the tournament. Meanwhile, Pakistani fans were hoping for an upset from the Dutch.
Only that result could boost the chances of the Men in Green. Speaking of the match, South Africa won the toss and asked the Netherlands to bat first. David Miller made a comeback into the playing XI as he missed the last game against Pakistan. While batting first, the Netherlands scored 158 runs for four wickets in 20 overs.

Both openers gave a decent start as they lost their first wickets on 58 runs in 8.3 overs. Then, Tom Cooper scored 35 runs off 19 balls, including two fours and two sixes. Then, Colin Ackermann scored 41* runs off 26 balls, including three fours and two sixes. He batted at a strike rate of 157.69. For the Proteas, Keshav Maharaj grabbed two wickets for 27 runs in his four overs. In reply, South Africa choked again as they managed only 145 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs.
No batters managed to contribute significantly as they fell short of the target by 13 runs. Rille Rossouw was the highest scorer for his team with 25 runs off 19 balls, including two boundaries. For the Netherlands, Brandon Glover grabbed three wickets for nine runs in his two overs. Colin Ackermann won the player of the match award for his 41*-run knock. But, Pakistan fans were over the moon after seeing the shocking defeat of the Proteas. They celebrated that upset as that result boosted Pakistan’s chances of getting qualified for the semi-finals of the World Cup. After this result, now Pakistan had their chances in their hands only.
