The whole nation became shocked on 30 December 2022 when Rishabh Pant got involved in a horrible road accident. Pant was returning home from Delhi and his car met with an accident on the Narsan border of Roorkee near Hammadpur Jhal. Rishabh Pant’s Mercedes collided with a divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway. 

Rishabh Pant recently played for India in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. Recently, he also missed the squads for the upcoming Sri Lanka series at home. Now, following his accident, Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami came up with full support to the Indian wicketkeeper. He also shared a speedy recovery tweet for the injured cricketer.

Rishabh Pant scored 148 runs in three innings of the Test series against Bangladesh

According to the CMO Statement, “Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami instructed officials to ensure all possible arrangements for the treatment of the injured cricketer Rishabh Pant and to provide an air ambulance if required.” Rishabh Pant’s Mercedes collided with a divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway.  

According to eyewitnesses, Pant hit the car with the railing and the car caught fire. Somehow, the fire got under control and the Indian wicketkeeper was taken to Saksham Hospital on Delhi Road. According to the doctors, Pant suffered injuries to his forehead and leg.

Uttarakhand Police Director General Ashok Kumar said that Pant broke the windscreen to escape the flaming vehicle. He suffered head, knee, and shin injuries. His leg might have been fractured, so he was transported to the Max Hospital in Dehradun. Police also confirmed that he has suffered burn injuries, but his condition is not severe. Speaking about Rishabh Pant, team India did not consider him in the playing XIs for the three-match ODI series in Bangladesh. Then, he played in the Test series and scored 148 runs in three innings. However, the Indian selectors did not select him for the upcoming Sri Lanka series at home in January 2023. As per reports, the team management wanted him to report to National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru for strength and conditioning before the Test series against Australia.
