India lost the T20I series against West Indies by a margin of 2-3. It was the first ever 5-match bilateral series that India lost in the history of T20Is. The loss in the fifth T20I of the series in Florida was like a final nail in the coffin of team India’s experimentation in the limited overs formats. As expected, the eventual result received a lot of criticism.

Venkatesh Prasad, the former India player was asked to give his opinions about the Indian captain and management in the series. The former Indian pace bowler replied to the fan on Twitter and criticized the Indian captain, management, and players. The former Indian bowling coach asked for accountability from the players, captain, and management.

"There is no consistency in selection" - Prasad questioned Indian management's choice of players' selction

The 54-year-old questioned the thought process and selections of the management. In his tweet, Prasad wrote, “They are responsible for the debacle and need to be accountable. Process and such words are misused now. MS meant it, guys now just use the word. There is no consistency in selection, random stuff happening too much,” and criticized the Indian team and the management.

Prasad further questioned the hunger and intensity of the players on the field. The former Indian bowler pointed out the lack of versatility among the players. Prasad wrote, “India needs to improve their skillset. There is a hunger & intensity deficiency & often the captain looked clueless. Bowlers cannot bat and batsmen cannot bowl. It is important to not look for yes men and be blinded because someone is your favourite player but look at the larger good” and concluded.

The former India cricketer was the bowling coach of the Indian team during the 2007 T20 World Cup. It is interesting to note that under his stint, India won the inaugural T20 World Cup by playing with inexperienced players. The questions raised by Prasad seem genuine and the Indian team has to answer him by their performances in the upcoming days, especially in the big tournaments in the near future.
