Young Pakistan pacer Shahnawaz Dahani has received a verbal warning from the Pakistan Cricket Board after he publicly criticised the selection committee led by Inzamam-ul-Haq. It all happened after the committee ignored Dahani’s name from the squad for Asia Cup 2023.
Dahani made his last ODI appearance for Pakistan last year in June 2022, however, he is consistently performing in domestic cricket. In frustration of being left out, Dahani started expressing his anger with a reply to the tweet from former Pakistan star Rashid Latif, who shared bowling figures for Pakistan pacers but Dahani’s name was missing from Latif’s list.
Later, the 25-year-old pacer corrected the numbers for Rashid Latif with List-A stats. The former captioned his tweet, “Seems as if Dahani is not a Pakistani pacer”. Furthermore, the former cricketing star acknowledged Dahani’s record with an apology. The Larkana-born pacer didn’t stop here only and came up with another tweet in the subsequent series.
“Not even a single journalist or cricket analyst even dared to ask questions or show these stats to selectors. #ripsportsjournalim,” read another tweet posted by Dahani from his Twitter handle.
These activities from young cricketers didn’t go down well with the Pakistan Cricket Board and the media reports learned that the pacer got a call from the officials. He was rebuked for publicly criticizing controversially.
