Left-arm pacer Pradeep Sangwan is selected as the Delhi team captain for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy. He was picked as the skipper ahead of India's opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan. Although he is a part of the 22-member squad, the reason behind not naming him as captain is that he is likely to be unavailable after the tournament's first week. The left-handed batsman is going to be a part of India's team which will play against England in five T20Is and three ODIs. All five matches in the shortest format of the game will take place at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Indian pacer Ishant Sharma is most likely to miss the tournament due to his commitment with Team India against England. Delhi is in Group D with Jaipur as its assigned venue.

The Delhi team have also appointed Himmat Singh as Sangwan's deputy. The squad comprises regulars like Manjot Kalra, Dhruv Shorey, Nitin Rana, Unmukt Chand and Jonty Sidhu. All the teams will then undergo mandatory COVID-19 testing procedures and quarantine following the state regulatory authorities and the Board of Control for Cricket in India's standard operating procedure. DDCA also stated that the team would depart for Jaipur on February 13. The domestic competition will start on February 20, and all the teams will gather in their host cities a week before the tournament begins.

Karnataka is the defending champions of the domestic 50-over tournament

The tournament is going to take place in six different venues, including Surat, Indore, Bangalore, Jaipur, Kolkata, and Tamil Nadu. All the teams are divided into five Elite groups and one Plate group. Team Saurashtra is in Elite Group E and will play their matches at Kolkata.
