Karnataka, who plunged out early in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2020-2021, are the defending champions of the domestic 50-over tournament in India.

All the teams have been split into five elite groups, with six teams in each group. The last group is the Plate group which consists of eight teams. Teams in the Elite Groups A, B, C, D, and E are going to play across different locations in Surat, Indore, Bengaluru, Jaipur, and Kolkata, respectively. Talking about the Plate group teams, they will play all their games in Chennai.

All players will have to fulfill the COVID-19 protocols and have to gather in the playing location a week before the start of the tournament.
