Virat Kohli added another feather to his illustrious career as he became the third captain to score 12,000 runs in international cricket across all formats. He achieved the milestone during the second T20 international game against England in Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Virat Kohli became the first Indian player to score 12000 international runs as captain. Kohli required just 17 runs to reach the landmark, which he achieved in the 5th over of India's innings.

Kohli became the third captain after Graeme Smith (14878) and Ricky Ponting (15440) to register the 12,000-run feat in international cricket.

India defeated England by 7 wickets in the 2nd T20I to level the 5-match series

In the 2nd T20I, Indian bowlers came up with a spirited performance as they restricted the visitors to 164 for six in 20 overs. Eoin Morgan and team were coasting along well at 129 for four in 15 overs and looked suitable for putting up a big total. However, brilliant bowling from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shardul Thakur, and Hardik Pandya allowed the visitors to get only 35 runs in the last five overs. Team India began well as Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Jos Buttler early. But a 63-run second-wicket partnership between Jason Roy and Dawid Malan helped England get back on track.

Kohli played a superb inning of 73 runs in 49 deliveries. His knock included five fours and three sixes which helped the hosts level the five-match series 1-1. India won the second T20I by seven wickets. Given a target of 165 runs to win the match, India chased down the target comfortably. Virat Kohli now has 6001 runs from 87 T20I games since his debut in the format in 2010.

India had lost the opening T20I by eight wickets with their batting line-up failing to execute their plans of playing an aggressive brand of cricket. However, in the second encounter, they implemented those plans brilliantly as debutant Ishan Kishan scored a fifty at the top of the order. Ishan Kishan went slam-bang right from the beginning, even as he lost his opening partner KL Rahul for a duck. He scored 56 runs off 32 balls with five boundaries and four sixes. Rishabh Pant also smashed 26 off 13 to take the match out of England's grasp.
