Former Pakistan seamer Aaqib Javed has come up with a bold suggestion for Indian captain Virat Kohli. The veteran has asked him to learn from Babar Azam by looking at his batting technique. According to Javed, who has featured in 163 ODIs and 22 Tests for Pakistan, Virat Kohli has one area of weakness, whereas Azam doesn't have any. Javed praised legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar, stating that he too didn't have any area of weakness. The remarks from Javed came as Virat Kohli has failed to notch an international century in almost one and a half years. However, the Indian batsman has been in great touch and bagged the Man of the Series award in the recent ODI series against England.
Babar Azam should follow Virat Kohli's fitness routine: Aaqib Javed
On the other hand, Babar Azam is enjoying a superb outing with the Pakistan team in South Africa. He led his side to a 2-1 win over the hosts in the three-match ODI series. The current Pakistan captain accumulated 228 runs from three ODIs. This also included a match-winning knock of 103 off 104 balls in the series opener. Javed also asked Babar Azam to follow Virat Kohli's fitness routine. The Indian captain is one of the fittest cricketers in the cricketing world. It was in his very first year as the all-format skipper when India introduced the yo-yo test (in 2017). The Pakistan team management has also set specific fitness protocols for national selection.
Courtesy of his fantastic run with the bat right from junior cricket, Babar has often drawn comparisons with Virat Kohli. Like Virat, Babar has also led the junior team in the U-19 World Cup and made it to the senior level after playing at different levels. Babar Azam now leads Pakistan in all three formats of the game and is one of the mainstays in their batting. The 26-year-old has 2167 runs in 31 Tests, 3808 in 80 ODIs, and 1744 runs in 48 T20Is. Virat Kohli, who made his international debut in 2008, has already surpassed the 10000-mark in ODIs and scored 12169 runs in 254 games. He has 7490 runs in 91 in the purest format of the game. Virat Kohli is the only batsman to average over 50 across formats. He also has 3159 runs in T20Is, which is the most by any batsman.
