Neeraj Chopra

The 24-year-old javelin sensation of India Neeraj Chopra has brought glory to his country by ending a 19-year-long medal drought. On Sunday morning of July 24, Chopra created history as he bagged a silver medal in the final of the men’s javelin throw at the World Athletics Championships. He has now become the second Indian athlete to win any medal in the Worlds. Last time, Anju Bobby George won a bronze medal in 2003.

Apart from this, he is the first and only Indian male athlete to achieve this feat. Surviving a foul in the first three attempts, the Olympic Champion successfully threw his javelin at his best distance of 88.13m. Although, there were again two consecutive fouls in the fifth and sixth attempts for him.

The whole country praised the young lad over social media for this historic achievement. In the subsequent process of congratulations, former skipper and senior batter of Indian cricket team Virat Kohli also congratulated Chopra for his amazing achievement in the worlds

The whole country congratulated Neeraj Chopra for his achievement

Virat Kohli took to Twitter in late Sunday evening to congratulate and praise Neeraj Chopra for winning a silver medal for the first time in track & field events at the World Athletics championships.

“Congratulations @Neeraj_chopra1 on winning the silver at the World Athletics Championships. We are proud of you. 🇮🇳👏,” reads the tweet posted by Kohli for Chopra.

Speaking of Virat Kohli, then he is currently enduring a poor run of form with the bat in all forms of cricket. Kohli is still struggling for his 71st international century. This lean run is going on since the last one he scored in November 2021 against West Indies. He couldn’t manage to score runs during the recently concluded tour of England.

Citing the workload management, the Indian selectors have given rest to the 33-year-old from the entire ongoing tour of the West Indies. The Indian team is locking horns in the three-match ODI series against West Indies. Following the conclusion of the 50-over series, both teams will lock horns in the five-match T20I series.
