Ravichandran Ashwin stated that Virat Kohli never demanded three Tests to be played to decide the winner of WTC. Virat Kohli had said that he was not in 'absolute agreement' over determining the best Test team in the world over the course of just one Test match. Therefore, he insisted that three Test matches will eventually test the ability of a team to make a comeback in the series.

Ashwin stated that Virat Kohli had just suggested the idea of best-of-three finals as a viable option going ahead. The Indian skipper never demanded three finals to be played for this year's final clash.

Hopeful that team India goes on to win a major ICC tournament in the future: R Ashwin

The Indian cricket team lost the historic final to New Zealand by 8 wickets at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. Pacer Tim Southee changed the game in favor of New Zealand and produced an inspiring performance with the ball. He helped New Zealand bowl out team India for 170 runs in the second innings.

Chasing a below-par target to win, NZ lost opening batsmen Tom Latham and Devon Conway to Ravichandran Ashwin. However, Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor put on an unbroken partnership to win the crucial match for their side. Ashwin praised New Zealand's consistency and stated that they deserved to be crowned as the maiden ICC WTC winners.

Ravichandran Ashwin is hopeful that Team India goes on to win a major ICC tournament in the future. The Men in Blue haven't reached success in ICC events since MS Dhoni led the team to glory in the 2013 Champions Trophy. The Indian cricket team has a great chance to win the T20 World Cup. The mega event is going to take place in UAE in October-November. Team India's next assignment in Test cricket is definitely a tough one. India will take on England in a five-match Test series that will start on 4th August 2021.
