Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman praised Virat Kohli's match-winning knock as it helped India level the on-going T20 series against England. Virat Kohli, who had a disappointing Test series, roared back to his best with an unbeaten 49-ball 73 in the second match. Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman highlighted that the Indian captain learns from his mistakes instead of repeating them.

Before the fantastic knock in the second T20I, Virat Kohli recorded two consecutive ducks in international cricket. However, the 32-year old was in his ultimate form on Sunday as he paced his innings incredibly well. Kohli played a superb inning of 73 runs in 49 deliveries. His knock included five fours and three sixes which helped the hosts level the five-match series 1-1.

The Indian skipper also became the first batsman to reach 3000 runs in T20Is. He has scored 3001 runs from 87 games at an average of 50.86. He is then followed by New Zealand batsman Martin Guptill, who has 2839 runs from 99 matches at an average of 32.36. Rohit Sharma is placed at number three with 2773 runs in 108 games. On the other end, young debutant Ishan Kishan stunned England in the 2nd T20I at Motera in Ahmedabad. The 22-year-old came on to open the innings with KL Rahul. Rahul was removed for a duck in the first over, but Kishan kept his cool and stitched a 94-run partnership with captain Virat Kohli.

VVS Laxman emphasized that Virat Kohli once again iterated why he remains an integral part of Indian cricket. He is one of the game's best players because he learns from his mistakes instead of repeating them. The 46-year old stated how Kohli lost his wicket in the first T20I as he seemed in a hurry. Nevertheless, in the second T20I, he took his time on the crease and played a great inning.

VVS Laxman further reckoned that Kohli is not the player to depend on boundaries only as he takes time to set and boost his strike rate eventually. The veteran also pointed out that Kohli emphasizes running between the wickets consistently. VVS Laxman concluded the discussion by stating that Virat Kohli should stick to his strengths, which are different from big hitters like Kieron Pollard and Chris Gayle.
