Speaking on his captaincy journey, the skipper said it was an honour to lead the team and he tried to give his best every time he donned the Indian jersey, adding that it’s time for the next lot to take over.
“It’s been an honour for me, I was given the opportunity and I tried to do my best. But it’s also time to create some space and move forward. I’ve been immensely proud of how the team has played," Kohli added.
Along with Kohli, the coaching trio of head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar will also vacate their posts after the match, which will be India's final game of the showpiece event.
