Virat Kohli equals MS Dhoni's captaincy feat in the fourth Test

Virat Kohli joined former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in an elite list of leading India in most Test matches. To seal the series and qualify for the World Test Championship final, Team India is hosting England in the fourth and final Test of the series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India is leading the series 2-1. The hosts need to win or draw the contest to book a berth in the ICC event's final.

The moment Virat Kohli walked out for the toss, the Indian captain added yet another feather into his prominent cap by leveling MS Dhoni's elite captaincy record. With 60 Tests as skipper, Kohli now tops the list of leading Team India in most Test matches. Dhoni, who captained the side from 2008 to 2014, held the record for 6 years. The duo will now continue to share the top position for at least three months. If India qualifies for the World Test Championship final, Kohli will surpass MS Dhoni in June. If they fall short, Virat Kohli will overcome Dhoni in the five-match Test series against England in August-September.

Virat Kohli is the most successful Indian captain with 35 wins in 60 Test matches 

Considering Kohli's age and fitness, he can become the first-ever Indian skipper to lead the side in 100 Test matches. He is 32 and is anticipated to don the blue jersey for another 5-6 years. Graeme Smith, who had first captained South Africa at the young age of 22 years and 82 days, is the only captain to have run a team in 109 Test matches. Talking of victories among Indians, Kohli is already the most flourishing Test captain. He already has 35 wins in 60 Test matches. He is followed by Dhoni, who led the Indian team to 27 wins. Sourav Ganguly (21) and Mohammed Azharuddin (14) are the other legends of the game on the elite list. The first-ever Asian skipper to lead India to a Test series win in Australia, Kohli only has two Test defeats at home. The Men in Blue never lost a home Test series under his captaincy.
