The final ICC T20I batsman rankings are out. Indian skipper Virat Kohli jumped to no 7 in the list. The rankings were updated prior to the final T20I between Pakistan and New Zealand. KL Rahul is the other Indian batsman in the top 10.
England cricketer Dawid Malan finished the year as the highest ranked T20I batsman as per the ICC rankings. Malan is the only batsman in the history of the sport to amass +900 ICC points in the T20I format. As of now, he has a tally of 915 points. Following Malan at no 2 is Pakistani cricketer Babar Azam. Azam has 820 points to his name. At no 3 on the list is KL Rahul with 816 points. Aaron Finch is at no 4 in the list with 808 points. With 744 points, Rassie van der Dussen is 5th. Glenn Maxwell finishes the top 6 with 701 points.
Virat Kohli is at no 7 with 697 points, followed by New Zealand cricketers Colin Munro and Tim Seifert. Munro has 695, while Seifert has 685 points. 10th on the list is Afghanistan cricketer Hazratullah Zazai with 676 points.
Kohli, Rahul and Rohit are India’s top 3 T20I batsmen this year
As many as 16 batsmen ended 2020 with more than 600 ICC T20I ranking points. Indian skipper Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma were the top 3 Indian batsmen in this list. Rohit Sharma is the only Indian besides Kohli and KL Rahul in the top 15. The Indian opener has a total of 623 points. Rohit was not part of the T20I series squad against Australia. If Rohit had been available, the stats could have been different.
Shikhar Dhawan finished 2020 as the 20th highest ranked ICC T20I batsman. Shreyas Iyer finished 61st in the list. Manish Pandey is the last Indian cricketer to make it to the top 100. Pandey currently sits at no 66.
