Virat Kohli is currently busy playing the ongoing home ODI series against the Kiwis. He had a fantastic start to 2023 as Virat scored the highest run in the recently concluded ODI series at home against the Lankans. However, he failed to continue that form in the first two matches against New Zealand.
In two matches, he has scored 19 runs, at an average of 9.50. But, the main worry has been the way of his dismissals. On both occasions, Mitchell Santer took his wicket while one was bowled and one was a stumping. Now, the former India cricketer, Wasim Jaffer opened up about the same matter.
“Virat Kohli must be disappointed by his dismissals in this series.” - Wasim Jaffer
While speaking on Espncricinfo, Wasim Jaffer said that the former India skipper must be disappointed with the way of his dismissal so far in the series. He said: “Virat Kohli must be disappointed by his dismissals in this series. He has been struggling to play leg-spin for quite a while now whether it be Adil Rashid or Adam Zampa, and now he has gone out to left-arm spin of Mitchell Santner two matches in a row."
However, he added an expectation that Kohli will make a good comeback in the third and final ODI against the Kiwis. "I expect Kohli to make a good comeback in the third ODI keeping the big picture in mind. Australia are touring soon and they have a solid bowling unit with Nathan Lyon also there. So, the expectation is always there from him to score runs and do well," Jaffer concluded.
Speaking of Virat Kohli, he had a good end to 2022 when he was the highest run-scorer in the Asia Cup and the 20-20 World Cup for team India. Then, he scored ended the year with a hundred in the 50-over format. He continued his rich-vein form in the Sri Lanka series with two centuries in three ODIs. So, fans will be hoping to see him doing well in this last match ahead of the upcoming home Test series against the Aussies.
