The episode between Saurav Ganguly and Virat Kohli regarding India's captaincy sees new developments every day. Virat Kohli freed himself from captaincy in all formats of the game earlier this month and many believe it is due to his rift with BCCI President Sourav Ganguly.
There were rumours of the BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly wanted to send the former skipper a show-case notice for Kohli's fiery press conference. Ganguly and Kohli have not been on same page ever since Virat Kohli stepped down as T20I captain. Later, BCCI removed Kohli as ODI captain and named Rohit as his successor. Ganguly clarified that he had requested Kohli to stay as T20 captain as BCCI does not want split captaincy in limited-overs cricket. However, Kohli quashed all claims and said that he was not informed about his ODI leadership sacking.
Soon after, reports emerged that BCCI will send show-cause notice to Virat Kohli for contradicting Ganguly's claims. However, Ganguly has revealed that the reports were mere rumours as BCCI never wanted to send any notice to Kohli. "Not true", Ganguly was quoted by SportsTiger.
Recently, Kohli gave up the Test captaincy as well, adding fuel to the rumours of the rift between him and BCCI.
Meanwhile, India have lost four games on the trot in South Africa. After losing the Test series, they have lost the ODI series as well.
