The former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has opined that captaincy is not burdening Virat Kohli. He assumes that Virat should get support from the rest of his teammates.

Virat Kohli previously had to face backlash after getting wiped out from the Playoffs stage of the IPL. Kohli has been donning the RCB captaincy for the past nine years but has failed to win any IPL trophy yet.

The Indian bowling group looked mystified once again. Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal looked miserable against the brawny Australian batting unit. Steve Smith's quick-fire ton and Glenn Maxwell's 29-ball 63 put up a mammoth at the end of the first innings.

India's unimpressive shows in both the ODIs raised questions on Kohli's captaincy and the fans favored Sharma to take over. Kohli's leadership skills have come under appraisal after he failed to lift the maiden trophy for RCB in the recent IPL edition.

Team contribution will take away the pressure, opines Harbhajan Singh

India losing by 51 runs in the second ODI, took the unbeatable 2-0 lead in the series. The Indian skipper was the highest run-getter in the chase for India, scoring 89 runs off 87 balls. Harbhajan in an interview stated that Kohli loves challenges but it’s not possible for him to always get India over the line.

The off-spinner had expressed the same stance after India lost to New Zealand in the World Cup semi-final last year. In addition to the constant buzz of the Number 4 slot, nobody apart from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli made it big at the mega event. Rohit Sharma failing to recover from the hamstring injury has robbed India of both experience and strength at the top order in the ongoing series.

After Mayank Agarwal is opening the series with Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul is batting at Number 5. Rahul storing up 204 runs in the series against New Zealand, the Karnataka batsman smashed a 66-ball 76 in the second ODI.

Harbhajan Singh wants other players of the team to make significant contributions as well. India will be back in action in the third ODI at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on Wednesday. The 3-match T20I series is scheduled to start on December 4.
