Bangalore and Gujarat locked horns in the 16th game of the ongoing Women's T20 League 2023 at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. In the reverse fixture between both teams, the Ahmedabad-based side won the game by 11 runs. It was the first win for the team. On the other hand, this was Bangalore's third consecutive loss in the tournament. Meanwhile, in this game, Sneh Rana-led side won the toss and elected to bat first.

At the toss, Rana said, "160-165 looks par on this wicket." On the other hand, Bangalore skipper Smriti Mandhana said  " Even if we lose the toss, we want to win the game and we wanted to field anyway." Batting first, the team had a quick start but Sophia Dunkley (16) got out in the third over of the game. At 27/1, the likes of Laura Wolvaardt and Sabbhineni Meghana 63 runs for the second wicket.

While Meghana scored 31 off 32 balls, the likes of Wolvaardt (68) and Ashleigh Gardner (41) played some impact innings. After they got out to Shreyanka Patil, the likes of Dayalan Hemalatha (16*) and Harleen Deol (12*) helped the team reach 188/4.

Sophie Devine gave nightmares to Ahmedabad

In reply, Bangalore openers, Smriti Mandhana, and Sophie Devine provided a dream start with the latter dominating the partnership. They put together 125 runs for the wicket. The latter dominated the bowling attack while Mandhana was looking for some under her belt. Just like her dismissal in the majority of the season, she got out to an off-spinner. She was caught and bowled by Sneh Rana after scoring 37 off 30 balls.

On the other hand, Devine missed out on her hundred by only a run. However, her innings ensured that the team will win the game by a long margin. In the end, the likes of Ellyse Perry and Heather Knight scored the required runs and the team won the game by eight wickets and 4.3 overs to spare.
