Former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta believes that it is too early to predict whether Virat Kohli will open in the upcoming T20 World Cup. According to Dasgupta, a lot will depend upon KL Rahul's form. Indian skipper Virat Kohli clearly stated that he wants to open in the T20 format. He also promoted himself in the batting order in the last match against England at home. The Indian captain was also the opener for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 14th IPL season.

A lot will depend on the form of KL Rahul: Deep Dasgupta

After the conclusion of the England tour, all the players will shift their focus on the preparation for T20 World Cup. The year's mega event is scheduled to begin on October 17 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It will be interesting to see which players will make it to the 15-man squad.

All the cricket fanatics will be keen to know about Virat Kohli's batting position. However, former Indian wicket-keeper batsman Deep Dasgupta believes a lot will depend on the form of KL Rahul. If KL Rahul performs well until then, there's no point for Virat Kohli to open the innings.

KL Rahul has been out of form for quite a long time now. The Karnataka batsman underwent appendicitis surgery days before the IPL 2021 was called off. KL Rahul is currently with the Indian contingent in the UK for the 5-match Test series against England, starting August 4. KL Rahul hasn't featured in a Test match since September 2019. If he gets an opportunity in the England Tests and manages to perform well, he might be a part of the T20 World Cup team.
