During the recently concluded Indian T20 League 2022, the Bangalore team managed to reach the playoffs owing to Mumbai's last league game against Delhi. Their fate in the tournament depended on the five-time champions, who themselves had a terrible season. Had Mumbai lost the match, Delhi would have qualified for the playoffs instead of Bangalore.

In the end, Mumbai managed to hold on to the match and help Bangalore get to the top four. Following the match, Virat Kohli tweeted "Kolkata" with an aeroplane emoji. He also tagged Bangalore's and Mumbai's team handles with a shaking hand emoji.

As it turns out, this tweet of the Indian great was the most retweeted tweet of the season. Twitter Marketing's official handle posted the update. "This Tweet by @imVkohli was the most Retweeted Tweet of the season," they wrote.

Here is the tweet

As for Bangalore's run in the tournament, they won the eliminator of the tournament against Lucknow, but could not win the qualifier against Rajasthan. In the game, Rajat Patidar was the lone warrior. He followed his hundred from the previous game with a brilliant half-century. However, he did not get any support from the other batters. Faf du Plessis was the second-highest run-scorer for his side with 25 runs.

They managed only 157 runs batting first. In the chase, Rajasthan were always very comfortable. Jos Buttler hit a brilliant century to take his team to a comfortable victory to reach the final.

On the other hand, the former team captain Virat Kohli had a forgetful season. Kohli's 15th season turned out to be one of his worst. In 16 games, he scored 341 runs at a 22.73 average. Despite scoring a couple of fifties, he was inconsistent and struggled throughout the tournament.

In the meantime, Virat Kohli has taken a break from India's upcoming T20 series against South Africa. The 33-year old will be looking forward to getting back in a good form ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup set to be hosted by Australia later this year.
