While playing against RR in the 16th match of IPL 2021, RCB skipper Virat Kohli notched another milestone. Kohli became the 1st player ever to register 6000 runs in IPL history. Before playing RR, Kohli had 5949 runs in 195 IPL matches. After amassing 72 runs against RR, Kohli now has 6021 runs in just 196 IPL matches. Kohli’s superb knock of 73 helped RCB registers their 4th consecutive victory in IPL 2021. RCB has now won 4 out of 4 matches in IPL 2021.

RCB skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to put Rajasthan to bat first. RR’s openers failed to give their side an ideal start. Jos Buttler got out after scoring 8 runs. Manan Vohra endured yet another poor outing with the bat in IPL 2021. Facing 9 balls, Vohra could only amass 7 runs as he was dismissed by Kyle Jamieson. Prior to Vohra’s dismissal, RR’s top order completely collapsed. Quick cameos from Rahul Tewatia, Riyan Parag, and Shivam Dube pushed RR’s total to 177. Mohammed Siraj was the pick of the bowlers against RR. Bowling 4 overs, Siraj conceded only 27 runs, scalping 3 wickets in total. Harshal Patel also scalped 3 wickets. However, Patel averaged at an economy of 11.75 runs per over.

In reply, the duo of Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal opened for the current table toppers. The duo exerted complete dominance over the RR bowlers. Without losing a single wicket, RCB chased the total with 21 balls left in their innings. Devdutt Padikkal was the center of attention, amassing his first-ever century in his IPL career. In just 52 balls, Padikkal notched an unbeaten knock of 101. Padikkal also had support from his skipper Virat Kohli, who notched a superb 47 ball 72.
