India and Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and several other cricketers have lost their Twitter legacy badges. For the unversed, it was a service for famous celebrities to identify their official Twitter handles. Since Elon Musk's takeover of the micro-blogging website, one thing which has concerned celebrities across the globe is his idea of charging for identification badges.
He cited the company's lack of revenue over the last few years. On the other hand, celebrities (sports or entertainment) have opposed the idea. They have always felt that it is their right to have a Blue Badge without having to pay a fee every month. The monthly fees for different badges (Blue for individuals, Gold for companies, and entities, and grey for government officials).
Meanwhile, a few hours before celebrities across the globe lost their Blue Badges, 'Twitter Verified' announced the change in the company's policy over this.

#BlueCheckMark Here is what we feel about this. I know I will get a lot of stick for my initial take on this. I am in agreement with the idea of the platform handing verified badges to people who are willing to pay. pic.twitter.com/Nm9VXpMoDW
