Virat Kohli

West Indian legend Michael Holding advised Virat Kohli to tone down his intensity while captaining India. Kohli often gets carried away with his intensity and that keeps his teammates tense and worried.

In a recent interview, Michael Holding made that observation. He also compared Kohli to another West Indies legendary cricketer Viv Richards. According to Holding, both the players have over-expressive on-field personalities that they need to learn to relax. It would improve the team performance and relax the players on-field.

Virat Kohli usually carries his heart on his sleeve and expresses his emotions clearly. But he does get carried away at times which increases the tension among his teammates.

Viv Richards of West Indies had a similar personality and used to get a bit over-expressive on-field. It is in the nature of both the players and they should learn to tone it down. But it is not possible to completely change some personality traits. So Kohli should just be careful and make sure that his teammates are not affected by his intensity.

If Kohli can relax a little then his teammates would freely express themselves on-field. The players are otherwise on tenterhooks which affect the team dynamic and the performance of players.

The Indian team recently faced a disastrous defeat against New Zealand in the World Test Championship final. India would now eye a win in the upcoming five-match Test series against England. The series would start from 4th August 2021.

Michael Holding gives the reason behind the rise of Indian Cricket

The pitches in India have also improved with time for domestic cricket and other tournaments. It has helped the batsmen better play seam and slow deliveries in overseas conditions.
