Indian skipper Virat Kohli set an unwanted record during the first T20I game against England on Friday. Kohli registered his 14th duck in international cricket, which is the most by an Indian captain. With this unwanted record, Kohli has now exceeded Sourav Ganguly on the list of Indian captains with the most ducks in international cricket. Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly was dismissed 13 times in his international career. MS Dhoni is third on the list with 11 ducks, while Kapil Dev finished his international career with 10 ducks. Finishing the top 5 is Mohammad Azharuddin, who had 8 ducks in his entire career.

Virat Kohli had indicated a fearless approach from Indian batsmen in T20 format before the start of the series. But the Indian skipper came up with an unorthodox approach in the first game, and it was evident with the way he played. Kohli was dismissed by Adil Rashid when the captain tried to hit over the mid-off fielder in the third over of the match on Friday.

Team India lost the first matcg by 8 wickets in defense of 124

The hosts were reduced to 22 for three after the end of the first six overs. This is their second-lowest powerplay score in T20I cricket as they lost KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, and Virat Kohli way too early. Rishabh Pant tried to rescue the innings for the hosts, but he departed for 21. However, India somehow managed to get past 100, thanks to a fine fifty from Shreyas Iyer.

It was also the 10th time a wrist-spinner dismissed Kohli in T20I cricket. The skipper has been struggling against leg-spin recently, especially in T20 cricket. Spinners have dismissed Kohli as many as 15 times in his T20I career.

Talking about the 1st T20 game, Jason Roy’s quickfire 49 outshined Shreyas Iyer’s career-best 67. The visitors quickly chased down a paltry 125-run target and won the first match by eight wickets. Indian bowlers Yuzvendra Chahal (1/44) and Washington Sundar (1/18) picked up a wicket each. With this win, the England goes up 1-0 in the 5-match series.
