The organizers of the Kashmir Premier League want Virat Kohli to play in the tournament. The KPL is a T20 cricket event intended to promote Kashmir's relevance and talent on an international scale. The league intends to send an invitation to the veteran cricketer to improve the relations between two arch rivals .

KPL President Arif Malik in a statement said that a formal invitation would be given to Virat Kohli, adding that if he can't play in the league, he can at least come as a special guest. He emphasized that the KPL is sending a message of peace to the world. "We want Indian cricketers to be part of the league and want to reduce tensions on both sides through cricket," Arif Malik was quoted as saying by thenews.com.pk.

Malik stressed that the league's major goal is to develop cricket and offer facilities for players in the region. Malik stated that preparations for the KPL are in full swing and that the second season, like the first one, will be hosted in Muzaffarabad Stadium. The massive event will begin on August 1st and conclude on Pakistan's 75th Independence Day on the 14th of August.

"Along with the KPL, cricket fans will also get to see a fantasy league in which teams from Muzaffarabad and Srinagar will be seen playing virtually with each other. We want to bring people of both sides together so that we can spread the message of peace," Malik added.

In the meantime, Virat Kohli is playing for the Bangalore team in the Indian T20 League. Bangalore have had a mixed season so far. They are presently fifth in the standings, with seven wins in 13 games. To stand a chance to make it to the playoffs, the Faf du Plessis-led team will have to win their last game against the table-toppers Gujarat.

Virat Kohli, however, has not had the best season with the bat. In 13 appearances, he has scored 236 runs at an average of 19.66. His strike rate of 113.4 hasn't been impressive either. He would like to resurrect his form in the final game of the league stage.
