Former India cricketer Reetinder Singh Sodhi feels that current Indian skipper Virat Kohli wants to prove to the world why team India is No. 1. According to several cricket experts, Kane Williamson and the team are favorites to win the maiden World Test Championship. However, for Virat Kohli, the mindset inside the Indian cricket team has to be that they can defeat the Kiwis in the English conditions. Virat Kohli's outlook makes former cricketer Reetinder Singh Sodhi feel that he wants to show why India is No.1 in the world.

Those who do not believe India can defeat NZ in the WTC should not travel with the team: Virat Kohli

During a discussion, Sodhi pointed out the positive aspects Virat Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri have brought to the Indian cricket team. Although the team, on paper, has some of the best players in the sport, it is their approach towards challenges that make them what they are today. Before boarding the flight to the UK, Virat Kohli clearly stated that those who do not believe India can defeat New Zealand in the World Test Championship final should not even travel with the rest of the team. According to Sodhi, this comment of the Indian captain shows the state of mind with which he is heading to Southampton.

The Men in Blue will have an extended tour of England ahead of them which will begin with the WTC final starting June 18. After WTC, Virat Kohli and Co. will then take on England in the 5-match Test series. The five-match series against England in their home ground begins on August 4. The opening Test of the series is going to be held at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Surprisingly, India defeated England at the same venue when they last met back in the year 2018. The Lord's, Headingley, Kennington Oval, and Old Trafford are the venues for the remaining four matches of the Test series.

Both Indian men's and women's teams have reached the UK. The women's cricket team will play their one-off Test in Bristol from June 16-19. The entire team will also do their hard quarantine in Southampton and the men's team at Hotel Hilton, which is a part of the Hampshire Bowl property. After that, the women's team is expected to travel to Bristol to complete their hard quarantine in Southampton. Both Indian teams have already served a 14-day quarantine period (home plus hotel) in India.
