Rajkumar Sharma, the childhood coach of former Indian captain Virat Kohli, was overjoyed to see his student bowl against Hong Kong in the Asia Cup. Kohli only bowled one over, allowing six runs, and the batters found it difficult to put him away.

Virat Kohli is widely regarded as one of the best batters in the game's history. Sharma, on the other hand, revealed how confident he was as a bowler in his early days. When it comes to Kohli's exploits with the ball, there are two notable examples. The first is a particularly unpleasant memory for him, as he was smashed around the park by Albie Morkel in the Indian T20 League in 2012.

The second time was a better experience for the Indian legend. Kohli took a crucial wicket against the West Indies in the 2016 T20 World Cup semifinal. However, India was eliminated from the tournament after the match did not end in their favour.

"Virat was always confident as a bowler. Morkel did dent his confidence a bit in the past (laughs) but he was always keen to take the ball and used to say - 'give me the ball, I will pick wickets.' So it is great to see him bowling again," Rajkumar Sharma said while speaking on India News Sports.

I have high hopes for Chahal: Rajkumar Sharma

Sharma believes leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal will be crucial in India's match against Pakistan on Sunday. The 32-year-old has gone wicketless in both games so far but has bowled economical spells. He thinks Chahal will have a big game against Pakistan because he can dictate terms in the middle overs if he gets into his groove.

"I have high hopes for Chahal to do well against Pakistan. He is an experienced bowler and knows how to pick wickets in the middle-overs. He will be crucial for India if they want to restrict the Pakistan batting by taking wickets at regular intervals," Sharma said.
