Mumbai, on Saturday, beat Delhi by five wickets in the Indian T20 League 2022 to help Bangalore qualify for the playoffs. Bangalore's expectations of proceeding to the next stage of the tournament entirely depended on Mumbai to win the match, or else Delhi would have made it to the top four. To the relief of the Bangalore-based franchise, Mumbai emerged victorious in their final encounter of the season.

Following the victory, Virat Kohli's tweet with the words "Thanks Rohit" went viral. As it turns out, it was an old tweet from 2019. Virat had published the tweet thanking Rohit for wishing him on his birthday in 2019. After Mumbai drove Bangalore one step closer to their maiden Indian T20 League title, the Twitterati brought Kohli's old tweet back to life in a twisted, yet wholesome way.

Meanwhile, members of the Bangalore team were supporting Mumbai during the game. The team had arranged for a match screening at their hotel, and everyone watched the game together. Furthermore, the Bangalore team's social media handle continued constantly commenting about how they wanted Mumbai to win the game.

Speaking of the game, Mumbai's bowling assault was effective, and prevented Delhi from establishing anything major in the first innings. The five-time winners had set a target of 160 runs. A fantastic batting effort by a few of the batters kept the team alive during the chase. Tim David's superb batting effort helped the team win the game by five wickets in the end.

The top four teams in the Indian T20 League 2022 have been determined. Gujarat and Rajasthan will face off in the first qualifier on May 24th at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. On May 25th, Lucknow and Bangalore will compete in the Eliminator at the same venue. The second qualifier and final will then be held on the 27th and 29th of May at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. An important point to be noted is that the tournament will be won by someone other than Mumbai or Chennai for the first time since 2016.
