Team India has plenty of options in terms of bowling and batting: Dinesh Karthik

The current Indian Test team is blessed with one of the best pace units of all time. This includes the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, and Mohammed Shami. Talking about the batting line-up, it is also a star-studded one with skipper Virat Kohli, opening batsman Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Ajinkya Rahane bringing a plethora of experience with them. Dinesh Karthik insisted that such a team deserves to play the World Test Championship final.

Virat Kohli-led team India performed well in the group stages of the World Test Championship. They won the Test series against West Indies and Australia away from home. On the other hand, they also defeated South Africa, Bangladesh, and England at home to make it to the final of the mega event. India has only faced one defeat in the WTC, which came against New Zealand last year. Team India's most memorable victory came against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21.

The Indian cricket team finished on top of the WTC points table with 520 points and a percentage of 72.2. The side won five out of their six series in the last two years. Team India has won 12 matches and lost 4 games during the tournament, whereas one has ended in a draw. On the other hand, the Kiwis have won 7 games and lost four during the tournament. However, both the teams topped the points table to make their way for the WTC final. A total of 9 teams were part of the ICC World Test Championship, which commenced in 2019. Post WTC, India will lock horns against England in a five-match Test series.
