The former Indian captain, Virat Kohli, is currently going through a drought of runs for a while now. He has not scored a century in any format in over two years. Notably, his last century came during a Test match against Bangladesh in 2019. This run drought has raised many eyebrows. And now, reports of national selectors considering his spot in the T20 team have emerged.
Playing for Bangalore in the Indian T20 League 2022, Virat has not done much in the cash-rich league either. In the nine matches that he has played this season, he has only scored 128 runs. His scores in the 2022 edition are: 41*, 12, 5, 48, 1, 12, 0,0, and 9.
A BCCI official has recently stated that the Indian team selectors are keeping a close eye on Virat's performance. He also expressed concern over Virat's performance this season.
"He is a great servant of Indian cricket. But his form from some time now is a huge concern now for the national selectors and BCCI," the BCCI official was quoted saying by InsideSport.

"See we don’t intervene in the selection matters. Selectors have to take call on Virat and others. We can’t give our judgment to them. Obviously, they are concerned about what is happening to him", added the official.
Ravi Shastri on Virat Kohli
Former Indian cricketer and team coach, Ravi Shastri also opined that Virat Kohli should take a break from the game for a while. He stated that Virat has six to seven years of international cricket left in him, which cannot be compensated for the burden he is under.
"I am going straight to the main guy here. Virat Kohli is overcooked. If anyone needs a break, it’s him. Whether it’s 2 months or a month-and-a-half, whether it’s after England or before England. He needs a break because he has got 6-7 years of cricket left in him and you don’t want to lose that with a fried brain," Ravi Shastri told Star Sports.
