Reetinder Sodhi has opined that India’s success in the Brisbane Test has made Kohli and the selectors give more weight to bowlers who can bat. India’s tour of Australia witnessed some valuable contributions by the blowers in tough situations. Players like Shardul Thakur, Washington Sundar made some valuable contributions in the first innings of the Gabba Test. R Ashwin’s rearguard action in the Sydney test was also noticeably valuable. The lower order helped out in the batting duties by stepping up at crucial moments. The former all-rounder believes that those performances could have influenced Virat Kohli’s mindset regarding bowlers that can bat.

Reetinder Sodhi feels that Virat Kohli’s thinking changed after the Australian tour. It has been proved effective that the bowlers can bat as well. R Ashwin and Washington Sundar changed the course of the match in the Australian Tour by their batting. It helped India create history in the Gabba Tour. Thereby the selectors and the captain of the Indian cricket team, Kohli, are giving more weight to all-rounder in the selection.

Ajinkya Rahane, the interim captain of the Australian Tour, chose Sundar over Kuldeep Yadav because he provided batting depth. When Kohli returned to lead the team at home against England, he went with Sundar over Kuldeep. He also kept five bowlers in the line-up. Axar Patel was also chosen over Ravinder Jadeja. Now, Kuldeep Yadav has been dropped altogether from the England Tour.

How will the Indian spinners perform on the English Wicket?

Players like R Ashwin and Axar Patel, who have given an impressive performance against England previously, are recognized for their performance. They will prove to be important in the Australian Tour. Along with players like Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and R Ashwin, who had a brilliant performance in the Test series, Sundar will also travel to England.
