India faced another humiliation in another World Test Championship final, now it was against Australia in the final of the WTC 2021-23 cycle. Aussies outclassed India by a massive margin of 209 runs to lift the World Test Championship Title for the first time after having a couple of titles in the limited-over international titles in cricket.

Meanwhile, the former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar seemed to be unhappy with the shot selection of the former skipper and modern-day Indian batting great, Virat Kohli in the all-important WTC final for India against the mighty Australians.

“I don’t think Virat Kohli would have played that shot if he wasn’t near a personal landmark,” said Gavaskar during the commentary stint at Star Sports on the final day of the WTC 2023 final between Australia and India.

Australian bowlers outclassed the Indian batting lineup in the entire match

Talking about the action of the WTC 2023 final between two Test cricket powerhouses, Travis Head scored a massive century of 163 runs alongside an amazing century of 121 runs from the former skipper and the batting great Steve Smith. On the back of these knocks, Australia posted a massive total of 469 runs in the first innings. Responding to this, India got bundled up only on the score of 296 runs in the first innings and happened to trail by a big margin of 173 runs after the end of the first innings.

In the second innings, scoring 270 runs for the loss of eight wickets, Australia declared the innings and went on to set a huge target of 444 runs in the fourth innings for India.

Eventually, the Indians failed to chase the total and lost their all wickets only on the score of 234 runs to lose the match by an unexpected and huge margin of 209 runs.

Notably, the Australian bowlers completely dominated India’s strong batting lineup in both innings of the match and didn’t give them a chance to come back after some early blows.
