Virender Sehwag, the former India opener, has lashed out at Rishabh Pant for his immature batting approach. Moreover, Sehwag has defended the omission of Pant from India's ODI and T20I team that should head out to Australia later this year.

On Monday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) listed the names of cricketers for the Australian tour. BCCI excluded Rishabh Pant from the ODI and T20I team. They have included his name for the Tests.

Virender Sehwag criticizes Rishabh Pant

Sehwag said that he is not surprised to hear about Pant’s exclusion. Pant was not part of the playing XI regardless of being fit on the last tour. At that time, KL Rahul did well as a wicket-keeper, and the team management used Rahul as the regular wicket-keeper in the limited-overs games. The management kept Rishabh Pant out.

Sehwag further added that this was a sign for Rishabh Pant to change his playing style. Sehwag stated that Pant needs to figure out how to finish off the games. He would not be given chances until he figures out the solution for this.

Sehwag stated that during his time, Rahul Dravid put on the shoes of a wicket-keeper because they didn't have a decent keeper till MS Dhoni showed up. In this manner, Dravid was both a batsman and a wicket-keeper for the team.

“Rishabh Pant is good keeper, but the way he gives away his wickets, Kohli and Ravi Shastri might not be pleased with him. Only Rishabh Pant can make this change – he needs to finish off games in every opportunity he gets. He needs to prove himself that he can return to the Indian team,” Virender Sehwag concluded.

From November 27, Team India will clash with Australia. The tour will have three ODIs, a T20I match, and four Test matches.
