Former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag is not happy with the way Rishabh Pant led his team against RCB. Sehwag lashed out at Pant for not utilizing his main bowlers properly against RCB. The veteran stated that he won't even give 5 marks out of 10 to Pant for his captaincy. Despite great knocks from Pant (58*) and Shimron Hetmyer (53*), Delhi Capitals failed to chase 172-runs. DC lost the match by just 1 run. Sehwag further reckoned that Rishabh Pant would have to play smart cricket if he wants to be a smart captain.

Virender Sehwag's remarks came after some doubtful decisions that were taken by Pant while switching his bowlers in the first innings. Despite suffering a poor start, Bangalore capitalized on the last 10 overs. They managed to put a challenging total of 171 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Sehwag was not at all impressed by Pant's decision to finish off pacer Kagiso Rabada's bowling quota by the 18th over.

The decision to bowl out Kagiso Rabada proved costly for the Delhi-based franchise. The skipper was left with no choice but to call upon Marcus Stoinis to bowl the final over of the match. Marcus Stoinis hadn't bowled in the innings before. The seamer gave way 23 runs in the last over. AB De Villiers hit him for three sixes and helped RCB set a 172-run target.

Delhi Capitals then fell short of just one run by chasing 172 to win. With 14 runs needed in the last over, Mohamed Siraj bowled a match-winning over. The pacer denied Delhi a win. After the match, Rishabh Pant was seen consoled by RCB skipper Virat Kohli. The youngster was unhappy as he failed to take his team home, and the disappointment was quite clear on his face. Shimron Hetmyer and Rishabh Pant added 78 runs together but still were unable to win the match. This was DC’s second loss of the season in six outings. RCB is presently sitting at the pinnacle of the IPL 2021 points table with 10 points in their kitty. After this win, RCB will next play against Punjab Kings while Delhi Capitals will face Kolkata Knight Riders.
