Former legendary Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has come up with a big prediction for the final of the ODI World Cup 2023; a marquee tournament to be held in India later this year in the month of October and November. Akhtar predicted that the two arch-rivals and South Asian cricketing powerhouses India and Pakistan will play the final of the much-anticipated final of the 13th edition of the ODI World Cup.

Recently, the 47-year-old was also a part of the recently concluded Legends League Cricket 2023 held in Doha. He played for Asia Lions, under the captaincy of Shahid Afridi; the team went on to clinch the title of the tournament by defeating Aaron Finch’s World Giants in the final of the tournament.

Coming back to the recent statement of Shoaib Akhtar on the ODI World Cup 2023 in India; he felt that the people of both countries should work ahead in improving relations on all grounds; be it cricket, trade, or anything else.

"India and Pakistan will play the final in the Asia Cup and also in the World Cup. India will come to Pakistan (for Asia Cup) and Pakistan will also travel to India for the World Cup. I am very hopeful that things will improve between India and Pakistan, and trade will open and urge people from both sides to spread positivity and close the gap instead of burning bridges," said Akhtar to Sports Today.'

"I want to take revenge for the 2011 World Cup, hadn't played in that match. Now, I want to watch India vs Pakistan final in Wankhede or Ahmedabad, wherever it happens in India. I will try my level best to watch the final," he added later.

Notably, Akhtar still holds the record of the fastest delivery in the history of cricket that he bowled to Nick Knight during the ODI World Cup 2003 almost 20 years back now.
