Pakistan team hit a new low in their history on 20 December 2022 when they lost the home three-match Test series by 3-0 against England. For the first time in their history, the Men in Green lost four Tests in a calendar year. So, fans slammed both Babar Azam and the PCB Chairman, Ramiz Raja for such an embarrassing result. Speaking of Ramiz Raja, is the 36th Chairman of Pakistan Cricket.

He started his term on September 2021 for a three-year term. However, during his tenure, Pakistan Cricket Team produced some great results, especially against their arch-rivals India. First, Pakistan defeated India for the first time in a World Cup game during the 20-20 World Cup 2021. Then, Pakistan again managed to defeat India in the Asia Cup 2022.

Fans were not happy with the approach of Ramiz Raja when Pakistan played against England in a flat track of Rawalpindi. He also made headlines for controversial remarks regarding their chances to go to India for 50-over World Cup 20223 if the Men in Blue deny visiting his country for the Asia Cup 2023. Recently, he gave a controversial statement during his interaction with Michael Atherton over the state of cricket grounds in Pakistan. 

Ramiz Raja said: “Peshawar is still, I’m afraid, a red flag for most of the foreign players. But, the stadium is still under construction and it will be a bit like the Dubai stadium – high profile. It will be completed in six months and we might have Pakistan Super League matches there. We are contained, in a way. We are not spoilt for choice. This belongs to us, Lahore and Karachi too, but we would like to spread the game around. We are working on it, you will visit teams like Faisalabad and Sialkot next.”

Hearing that, Peshawar fans went crazy and shared their views on social media platforms. Then, after getting whitewashed by England at home in the Test series, fans raised their voice to sack him. Now, on 21 December 2022, reports came out that Ramiz Raja has been sacked already from the post and Prime Minister Shehbaz Shariff has approved Najam Sethi’s appointment as the new PCB Chairman.
