In a massive jolt, Hyderabad will miss the services of star all-rounder Washington Sundar for at least a week. Washington Sundar picked up an injury during the game between Gujarat and Hyderabad. He walked off the field as he faced issues between his thumb and the index finger of his right arm. Notably, Sundar has picked up a thumb injury ahead of India's tour of England last year and had to miss out on the series and the 20-20 World Cup. Sundar could not complete his full quota of four overs and ended the game with the figures of 14/0 in three overs. Hyderabad will now need to replace him with another player at least for the next two games. Here are the possible options.
Shreyas Gopal
Shreyas Gopal has been around in the Indian T20 League for a while now and he can be an ideal replacement for Sundar in the playing XI. He last played a game in 2021. Rajasthan used him in three games but he went wicket-less in all the games. This could be his opportunity to redeem himself. He is a player who can give all four overs in the match and be handy with the bat as well.
Abdul Samad
The all-rounder from Jammu and Kashmir was retained by the team ahead of the season. However, he was dropped from playing XI after just two games due to poor form. Samad had a great domestic season in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as he was J&K's highest run-scorer, with 127 runs in five innings. The team management might want to bring him back into the team and see if he can regain his form. An in-form Samad will add a lot of depth to the side.
Jagadeesha Suchith
Jagadeesha Suchith had a fantastic season with Mumbai in 2015, picking 10 wickets in 13 games. Post that, he has not played many games and has only appeared in four games of the Indian T20 League. However, the 2021-22 season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy was decent for him. He played five games in the tournament and picked up seven wickets. His economy was great as he conceded just 3.52 runs per over. On top of that, he can be handy with the bat in the lower order as well.
