Virat Kohli and Babar Azam's comparison has been going on for the last few years and doesn't seem to stop anytime soon. Both have been pleasing-to-the-eye players in the current era. Talking about their numbers, Kohli has scored around 25000 runs across formats with 71 hundreds. On the other hand, Azam has got around 10000 runs across formats including 25 tons. Meanwhile, former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram has expressed his opinion on the matter.

He said that the comparisons are natural. The former left-arm pacer pointed out that people used to compare players such as Inzamam Ul Haq, Rahul Dravid, and Sachin Tendulkar. The Lahore-born also pointed out the era when the players such as Sunil Gavaskar, Javed Miandad, Gundappa Vishwanath, and Zaheer Abbas.

"The comparisons are only natural. When we played people used to compare Inzamam, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar. Before that, it was Sunil Gavaskar Javed Miandad, G Vishwanath and Zaheer Abbas," said Akram.

Comparison between Virat Kohli and Babar Azam is too early: Wasim Akram

The 56-year-old added that even though Babar Azam is very consistent and has the right technique, it is still too early to compare him with Kohli. The 356-ODI veteran also said that the current Pakistan skipper is on the right track to being with the modern-day greats.

"Babar has been very consistent, because he has got the right technique. He is very hungry and very fit. He is still a young captain but is learning very fast. However, comparisons with Virat it is too early.

"Babar is on the right track to be where Virat Kohli is but to compare him with him at this stage is too early. But he is absolutely on the right track to be one of the modern greats," said Akram on Star Sports.

Virat and Babar will play each other on August 28 in the second game of the upcoming Asia Cup. The former is coming off a break while his counterpart played in the recently concluded series against the Netherlands.
