There has been a constant debate among the cricket fans about who between Virat Kohli and Babar Azam is a better batter. Virat Kohli is an icon of the game and has consistently delivered for his team on his way to greatness. Babar too, still though in his early days, has shown a lot of promise to become one of the greatest of all time.
But has he done enough to be compared with Virat Kohli? Well, Wasim Akram has an answer for this. Akram feels that comparing Babar with Kohli is unfair as Kohli is one of the greats of the game. Akram though said that Babar is heading towards where Kohli is at the moment.
Akram also said that Kohli has been the captain of the side for a long time now and Babar has just started leading Pakistan thus he still has a lot to prove. “Virat Kohli is Virat Kohli. He has dominated world cricket, scored all those runs over these years. He has led India. Babar Azam has started captaining Pakistan only now. But as far his technique is concerned, is very good to watch and very consistent in all formats,” Akram said while speaking on Salaam Cricket.
“He is learning his captaincy, he is a quick learner. So, it’s unfair to compare those two now. But Babar is definitely heading towards the position where Virat Kohli is now,” he added.
Kohli and Babar will be in action on October 24 when India and Pakistan lock horns in Dubai. This will be Babar Azam’s first world event as Pakistan skipper and he will be keen to change history and lead Pakistan to their first World Cup win over India. However, it won’t be easy given the form that India showed in the warm-ups where they comprehensively defeated England and Australia.
