WATCH: 39-year-old Faf du Plessis takes a stunner to dismiss MI New York's Tim David in MLC 2023

Former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis is currently associated with the Texas Super Kings franchise as captain in the ongoing Major League Cricket 2023. Notably, it is the inaugural edition of the Major League Cricket in the USA. Du Plessis who recently turned 39 last week on the 13^th of July, stunned everyone with his sensational fielding skills even at this age.

The moment came in the last over of the match between Texas Super Kings and MI New York, when the latter required 21 runs off the last over, having Tim David there in the middle. Their expectations highly relied on Tim but he happened to play a lofted shot off the length delivery bowled by Daniel Sams outside the off stump.

Du Plessis made no mistake in judging the ball and dived brilliantly to his left to complete the execution of the catch. This big wicket played a crucial role in restricting MI New York on the score of 137 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in response to TSK’s 154 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. The video of this sensational catch taken by Du Plessis also started making rounds on social media as soon as it was shared on Twitter.

Speaking of the action of the match, Super Kings’ skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and decided to bat first. The veteran opener Devon Conway played a brilliant knock of 74 runs off 55 balls with eight boundaries and a six to his name. Apart from him, most of the batters failed to live up to the expectations, other than Mitchell Santner, who displayed a quick cameo of 27 runs off just 13 balls with a boundary and two sixes to his name. Texas posted a total of 154 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Later, while chasing the target, MI New York could score only 137 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the entire 20 overs and lost the match by a margin of 17 runs. Notably, it is the first loss for Kieron Pollard’s men after their emphatic win in the first match against Los Angeles Knight Riders.
