Former West Indies captain Brian Lara was one of the most prolific players from the Caribbean Islands. Not to forget, he is one of the last of the players that carried the Caribbean legacy in cricket. Talking about his playing career, he played 299 ODIs and 131 Tests from 1990 to 2007. Also, he has led the Maroon Brigade thrice across formats. Meanwhile, the Trinidadian was in Australia for a commentary stint.

Apparently, the Kraig Braithwaite-led side arrived Down Under for a two-match Test series. While the visitors were getting by the Aussies in both games, Lara showed that he still got it even after retiring from the game. In a video that is doing rounds, the left-hander smoked Afghanistan leggie, Rashid Khan, in the nets.

Meanwhile, talking about the series, the Kangaroos comfortably won by 2-0 in the end. In the first game, the Pat Cummis-led side amassed 598/4 thanks to double tons from Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith, Notably, Travis Head (99) missed out on his Test ton. In reply, the West Indies did alright and got to 283 runs, with skipper Kraig Braithwaite scoring a fifty. After this, the Aussies amassed 182/2, setting an improbable target of 498 runs.

In reply, the world number eight Test side scored 333 all-out, losing the game by 164 runs. In the recently-concluded second game, the number seven placed team in the ongoing World Test Championship 2021-23 surrendered. After conceding 515/7 in the first innings, they were all-out for 214. In reply, the World Number One Test side set a target of 497, one run less than the previous game. However, this time around, the West Indies were bowled out for 77, losing the game by 419 runs.

After the game, West Indies skipper Kraig Braithwaite said "Disappointing second game for sure. We showed some fight in the first. We lost a few guys to injury but did not play well. A good Test year but we have a lot to work on. As I said, we showed some fight and it proved we could spend time at the crease. We need to learn from their batters about leaving and how their bowlers bowled to their fields. Impressed but not surprised about Chanderpaul. I see him playing long at the top for sure. Support has been amazing. A lot of people came out at Perth, happy that people want to see West Indies do well. Sad to not do well in the second game but look forward to coming again in the future."
