Cricket in India is the most celebrated sport, and cricketers are always given the highest regard among Indian fans. Because of their large fan base, the players are treated like celebrities by the fans. From Kapil Dev to Sachin Tendulkar, fans never hesitate to express their admiration for their favourite cricketers.

After the Legends League Cricket (LLC) T20 tournament match between India Capitals and Gujarat Giants, a young fan won many hearts with his affection for former India batter Gautam Gambhir. A video of the two has gone viral over the internet.

Gambhir was seen heading towards the dressing room in a video posted on LLC's Twitter after his team, India Capitals, defeated Gujarat Giants by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The young fan dashed up to Gambhir and touched his feet. Gambhir then requested that the young fan not to do that. The child then handed the India Capitals captain a piece of chart paper and asked for an autograph, to which Gambhir smiled and granted his fan's wish.

So far, India Capitals lead the points table with two victories out of four, while Bhilwara Kings have only one win in four games. Gujarat Giants are in second place with two wins in four games, while Manipal tigers are in third place, with just one win in as many games.

In the meantime, the World Cup-winning player has been in the conversation for a while. He recently opened up about the "hero-worship" culture in India. During an interview with The Indian Express about the topic, Gambhir highlighted Virat Kohli and Bhuvneshwar Kumar from the recently concluded Asia Cup match against Afghanistan.

"When Kohli got a 100 and there was this young guy from a small town of Meerut (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) who also managed to get five wickets, no one even bothered to speak about him. This was so unfortunate. I was the only one, during that commentary stint, who said that. He bowled four overs and got five wickets and I don't think anyone knows about that. But Kohli scores a 100 and there are celebrations everywhere in this country. India needs to come out of this hero worship. Whether it's Indian cricket, whether it's politics, whether it's Delhi cricket. We have to stop worshipping heroes. The only thing that we need to worship is Indian cricket, or for that matter Delhi or India," he said.
