On 10 January 2023, team India will begin the three-match ODI series at home against Sri Lanka. The first match will take place in Guwahati, Assam. However, all big-name players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be back for this series. Rohit Sharma will look to do well in this series as he is making a comeback from his thumb injury.
Due to that injury, he missed the last ODI and two-match Test series in Bangladesh. Then, he was not a part of the home T20I series against Sri Lanka. So, ahead of the series opener, the India skipper was seen interacting with fans. There, a video has gone viral where Rohit Sharma was seen in a golden moment with a crying young fan.

“But certainly, I've not decided to give up the format" - Rohit Sharma
Speaking of the video, Rohit Sharma was seen going to a tongue fan who was seen crying. Then, he consoled him in the best possible way and the young fan ended up smiling with the India captain. Rohit also gave autographs to many fans there. However, on the eve of the series opener, Rohit Sharma opened up about many things.
In the pre-match press conference, Rohit said that he has no plans to leave the shortest format of the game for team India. He said: “We have only six T20Is, three are over. So we'll manage, you know to look after those boys till Indian T20 League. Then we'll see what happens after the Indian T20 League. But certainly, I've not decided to give up the format."
He also insisted that the full team is currently focusing on the upcoming 50-over World Cup. Hence, some players might find it hard to play in all three formats for the Men in Blue. "At the moment I think it was made clear in the past that it's a 50-over World Cup year for us. And for some of the guys it's not possible to play all formats," Rohit Sharma concluded.
