The 15th edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy kicked off on 11 October 2022. Now, on 12 October, Baroda took on Saurashtra in Indore for a Group D encounter. Baroda were coming off a win in their first match. On the other hand, Saurashtra got two points only as their first ended with no result. Hence, Baroda were looking to continue its winning momentum.
While Saurashtra were looking to register their first win in this year’s competition. Meanwhile, Saurashtra managed to win the match by four wickets. But, an unwanted incident occurred during Saurashtra’s batting inning. Baroda skipper Ambati Rayudu and Sheldon Jackson got involved in a heated exchange and the video went viral.

Ambati Rayudu scored a duck while Sheldon Jackson managed only 17 runs off 16 balls in the match
Speaking of the incident, it took place during the ninth over of the inning. Baroda skipper, Ambati Rayudu made some comments to the batter. In response to that, Sheldon Jackson marched towards Rayudu, fielding at the cover. Both got involved in a heated fight as umpires and players came up to end the clash.
Rayudu continued to argue with the umpires even as Sheldon returned to the crease. According to the on-air commentators, Ambati expressed his displeasure at Jackson taking time to get ready to face the deliveries.
Speaking of the match, Saurashtra won the toss and elected to field first. While batting first, Baroda scored 175 runs for four wickets in 20 overs. Ambati Rayudu managed a duck only. Opener Mitesh Patel scored 60 runs off 35 balls, including six fours and two sixes. In reply, Saurashtra managed to chase the target down in 19.4 Overs. Sheldon Jackson scored only 17 runs off 16 balls, including one four and one six. But, Samarth Vyas scored 97 runs off 52 balls, including five fours and nine huge sixes. His inning ensured Saurashtra’s victory. With this win, Saurashtra is now at the top of the table with six points from two matches.
